Turtle Shell Topography Observation

THE ARTIFACT

Across the surface of a turtle’s shell, ridges rise, channels divide, and weathered lines gather into something that resembles a miniature terrain. Pattern becomes geography, and the body carries the suggestion of rivers, valleys, and ancient stone.

Field Note No. 058 records a landscape that was never drawn, only grown. The shell becomes both shelter and map—an archive of movement shaped by time, habitat, and survival.

THE GARMENT

Printed as a full-color archival back graphic on a premium garment-dyed heavyweight black tee. A turtle-shell form becomes an imagined Appalachian landscape of mossy ridges, contour lines, waterways, mist, and weathered stone.

Muted olive, lichen green, pale sand, antique gold, and deep charcoal create the appearance of a recovered topographic study plate while preserving the shell as the central visual form.

Designed with a relaxed unisex fit and a substantial, lived-in feel.
